THE ALL WOMEN PRAGUE OPEN

The 2009 Prague Open started on the 13^th of July and went on till the 19^th. The WTA tournament which is an all women tournament featured players like Francesca Schiavone, Iveta Benesova, Alona Bondarenko and the wildcard entrants included Kristina Kukova, Timea Bacsinszky and Petra Martic. Austrian Sybille Bammer and Italian Francesca who were seeded No.2 and No.1 respectively for the tournament entered the finals. The first set of the championship match was a thriller with a tie breaker 7-6 won by the top seeded Austrian who is ranked 30^th in the world. The second set was dominated by Sybille and eventually she won the second title of her career with a score of 6-2. In the Doubles’s championships, Kateryna Bondarenkov of Ukraine and Alona Bondarenko also from Ukraine defeated Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova both from Czech Repubic in a match totally in control of the Ukranians. The final score was 6-1, 6-2.
