THE SWEDISH TREAT


The Swedish Open Tennis Tournament also called the Collector Open took place from the 4th of July to the 11th for women and from 11th to 19th of July for men. The men’s draw featured top players like Tommy Robredo who is No.14th in the world rankings and was seeded 3rd for the tournament, Fernando Verdasco who is ranked 9 in the world and was the top seed here, home player Robin Soderling who is a rank 12 player and was seeded No.2 here and qualified entrants like Guillermo Canas from Argentina. Robin entered the finals and played against surprise player Juan Monaco from Argentina and it was a home win with Soderling taking 6-3, 7-6(4). In the doubles championship, Filip Polasek and Jaroslav Levinsky defeated Swedish teammates Robert Lindstedt and Robin Söderling with scores 1-6, 6-3 and 10-7. On the other hand the women’s draw didn’t feature any top players. The winner was Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez from Spain.
