The shock of the day for fans of Formula1 Grand Prix came in the form of the British Grand Prix authorities’ inability. They have crossed the deadline given to them to prove that the Donington race circuit which has previously been used for MotoGP can get enough funding in order to host the British F1 GP there. All these years Silverstone has been hosting the race and Donington Ventures Leisure Ltd. had assured that they would raise over £130m for the improvement of the circuit. Silverstone meanwhile has issued strong statements that they would continue like before, next year too only if a long term commitment is made with them. Last week, the Donington authorities have issued a statement saying that they have failed to secure the required amount. F1 chief authority Bernie Ecclestone had previously said that the British GP will surely be held at Silverstone if not at Donington. But now he’s going back on his own words and is not certain if the GP will be held in 2010.
