
The Kremlin Cup being held in Moscow came to its end. This ATP/WTA tournament which is held for both men and women reached its final stage today. Mikhail Youzhny from Russia had earlier defeated Sergiy Stakhovsky from Ukraine 6-3, 6-3 to enter the semi finals in the Men’s draw. He met Mikhail Kukushkin who is from Kazakhstan in the semis with whom he has had opportunities to play and practice before. He won the match and moved on to become the winner beating Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia in the finals with a thriller 3 setter 6-7, 6-4, 6-2. Meanwhile the first woman to enter the 2009 Kremlin cup was Francesca Schiavone from Italy who beat Alyona Bondarenko from Ukraine in the semis 6-4, 6-0 with a very good fight from the losing player when she was 2-5 down in the first set. She went on to win the finals against Olga Govortsova from Belarussia. Also, Nadia Petrova and Maria Kirilenko claimed the Doubles’title.
