The last contest in the 2009 WTA Sony Ericsson Championships took place at Doha and ended in the most astounding fashion! The great Williams battle took place in the Women’s finals with Venus playing against Serena in spite of not feeling well. Serena dominated the 1st set breaking her sister two times and ended it in just half an hour with the score 6-2. In the 2nd set however Venus was just unyielding and Serena had her toughest time in the entire tournament. It went into a tie breaker and Serena won it 7-6(4) to take the title which has added on to her Wimbledon and Australian Open wins. Meanwhile in the Womens’ Doubles Nuria Llagostera Vives and María José Martínez Sánchez won the championship. The Spaniards beat Cara Black and Liezel Huber who were the top seeds for the tournament 7-6(0) 5-7 10-7 after shocking all fans by defeating the William sisters in the semifinal.
