Rockstar Affiliate Goal Monitoring Released!
Tracking clicks and goals as an Affiliate Marketer can be an extremely hard task, yet it is one that all of us need to practice more than ever. What I am going to teach you today is how to do just that, however it is worth noting that this is a complex system. That said, this is a system that can be used time and time again if you simply copy wordpress installations from one domain to another.
So, why is it so hard to track affiliate links? Simple. Because unlike pages that we have installed on our own hosting account, when we promote a product, the pages that we are promoting are completely out of our control. By this, I mean that we simply can not install tracking on these pages. Obviously this is a problem, as you are going to want to be able to be able to utilize some kind of tracking, especially if you plan on improving your conversions down the track.
Here’s how its done. We need to find a physical page that we can use to track traffic that clicks a link. Simple way to do this is to create a page redirect, so that when someone clicks a link to a page, it will link through to the affiliate link automatically. This means that you can use this page to measure traffic with any embedded analytics code. As for plugins, there are many available both free and premium, each does their own thing, and suits a different purpose. Some will even drop a cookie on the page, meaning that you can send traffic wherever you like, as long as it converts better.
What this does is quite simple. This will create you a page that you own, and one that you can track using Google Analytics, or any other stats tool that you prefer. The beauty of this is that you can get as accurate as possible measurements in Google Analytics, plus you can also set goals and funnels so you can get an accurate record of not just your visitor numbers, but the total number of visitors who have taken an appropriate action.
Are you trying to get more people clicking through from a specific page to another? You can easily set up funnels in Google Analytics, track the behavior of your visitors, then try a new method, to attract clicks. This may be button color, a link type, or anything else that may boost the click through rate for a link.
All that is left to do at this point is to simply track your visitors, and see what you can improve on. You have all the tools at your disposal to be able to continuously measure and grow your conversion rate. As for what a good conversion rate would be, I would suggest that a figure above the 5 – 10% mark is a good figure to aim for. This will of course vary between niches.
One thing is for sure. Once you have installed a tracking system such as what I have taught you today, and created a copy wordpress installation that you can have ready at any time, this is something that you can not miss out on. Why? Because without tracking, there is no improvement.
