What to Look for in Vinyl Banner Printing
Now that there are so many home printers that can handle industrial quality jobs like vinyl printing, banner making is on an all-time high . Vinyl banners are popular among small businesses, as well as those that are frequently featured in trade shows. The durable quality of vinyl make these banners water-resistant and durable. This is just one of the main reasons why vinyl banners are never going out of style in the advertising world.
If you have a printer that can handle vinyl printing, you may be practicing with it to turn it into a business. You can also use your vinyl printing skills for creating signs for birthdays of your kids or students.
Here are some printing tips.
1. Design Element Placement
Never move too many elements toward the sides the banner. As much as possible, the sides should be free of design elements. Keep the banner design on the center to free up the side areas. Placing elements near the sides could result in a cluttered appearance. A cluttered banner looks unprofessional. A simple design placed strategically at the center will make a better impact.
Another reason for the centering of your design is the placement of the pole pockets or ropes. The banner won’t be as effective if the design elements are wrinkled or stretched because they’re too near the attachment points along the corners of the banner.
2. Avoid Pixelation
Pixelation is the term used when the image looks blurred. Instead of a clear, precise image, the viewer sees blurry dots on the banner. An image looks pixelated when during photo editing, you try to stretch a too-small image to fit the banner. Or, you could be using an image that has very low resolution in the first place.
Pixelation can be prevented if you use images that are big enough to fit on the banner. There are many photo editing techniques that can help you increase the size of an image without using simple photo editing tricks to enlarge it (like dragging the ends of the photo to fit over the banner). You should also set the printer resolution to 150 dpi as this will help you make the best of your printer. For very large banners, you can use a lower resolution (to speed up the printing), as long as the images you used are of good quality.
