The Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet Examined
The first iPad was met with skepticism; people thought that their laptop computers covered the same bases better. Then again, the real function of the iPad began to become more obvious.
As the market caught on and Apple’s accountants eagerly started rubbing their hands with glee, the other big computer and cell phone companies sat up and took notice. Tablets began appearing in nearly all places. Naturally, Dell is targeting to get a piece of the pie. The device Dell is pinning its hopes on is the Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet. We’re going to evaluate this device in this article and offer you the answers you need for you to determine if it’s a good buy or not.
It’s better to recommend a device when the company that makes it has a good name – that, however, is not the case with Dell. Dell isn’t known for the quality of the products it makes. And as for the company’s customer service: well, let’s just say if Dell owned a prize cupboard, it would not be filled with consumer accolades. Many customers have shared that when they called Dell customer support after the warranty expiration date, they were charged. You’ll find that perhaps the price of this device is more affordable than most, you have to factor in the long range cost of the company you’re dealing with.
Nowadays, multitasking between different functions is much in demand, and the Android OS version used here, named Froyo, should make it fairly uncomplicated. It’s not a requirement to keep particular apps “live” in order to get messages from the system’s notification service, while at the same time listening to MP3s and keeping your GPS information updated. It provides easy access to your Gmail and other e-mail apps and accounts, so you don’t have to concerned about whether you can be reached when you have your tablet with you.
Video chat was not present in the original iPad offering, and it’s fantastic that it is with the Dell Streak 7 tablet. The Dell Streak 7 tablet, employing Qik software and a front-facing panel cam, provides video chat. The problem is , however, that you won’t be able to communicate with others who don’t have the same Streak 7 device, or something compatible. Hence, video chatting with others who are on other platforms is not ensured. The integrated On Demand service offered by Blockbuster is a positive for the Dell Streak 7 tablet. Admittedly, however, Blockbuster’s recent issues make us think twice about recommending the tablet.
Until now, there aren’t a lot of reviews about this particular product although a few people are wondering what the point of this product might actually be. The device’s functionality is severely limited through its inability to interact with other devices that aren’t compatible with it. But, if you believe you’re missing out and would like to learn whether tablets are truly the thing for you, this Dell tablet is a low-cost way for you to figure it out. Keeping in mind the earlier caveats, ensure that you consider your purchase carefully before committing any money.
